European Union’s Remarks Rejected About Afghan Courts

MEP: The government of Kabul has reacted on European Union’s spokesman statements about corruption in the judiciary and people’s reference to the courts of the armed opposition.

Government Media and Information Center issued a statement, said that during the last two years, the Kabul government in the fight against corruption in the judiciary, has done extensive activities.

The statement added that 121 judges, attorneys, prosecutors and other judicial staff in the last 2 years have been arrested and considerable reforms in this section are implemented.

The Center has noted that the achievements of the reform in the judiciary are over other devices that is transforming the 700 judges from among 2800 judges is a good example.

The center added that all the administrative staff of the Supreme Court in the past two years through the process of administrative reform and open competition have been appointed in their positions and 540 judges to learn specialized training have been deployed abroad near a thousand others have undergone professional trainings in the country.

According to the statement, in the past two years, 70 major corruption cases in the prosecutor’s office and the judiciary to combat corruption have been examined and research on a number of these cases are still ongoing.

Europe Union spokesman in Kabul on Sunday has said that corruption in the judicial courts of Kabul has led people in remote areas to go to the armed opposition courts.
