Eleven Security Personnel Killed In Ghazni

MEP: At least eleven of the security forces who had been kidnapped by armed Taliban a few days before, were killed last night in Andar district of Ghazni province, an official said Wednesday.

“The people taken hostage a few days before and after identification were killed” Khaleqdad Akbari, head of Ghazni provincial council told the Middle East News Agency.

Akbari said the dead included six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and five Afghan National Police (ANP) who were killed near the shrine of Maulana during evening prayer (Azan).

He did not provide details on how the elimination occurred but said the Red Crescent in Ghazni is trying to transfer the bodies to the provincial capital.

Kidnapping and abducting have rapidly increased in the country during the past few days as earlier this week more than 200 passengers were kidnapped by armed Taliban in Kunduz – Takhar highway that later the militants killed 12 of them.

Meanwhile, another group of passengers have been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday whom faiths are unknown.
