Deputy Police Chief Of Kunduz Kidnapped In Taliban Ambush

MEP: The Taliban insurgents have reportedly kidnapped deputy police chief of Kunduz province Saturday morning in an ambush and killed his driver, an official said.

Sher Aziz Kama-Waal, commander of the Spin Zar 808 Zone in the north of the country told the Middle East News Agency the incident took place after the Taliban insurgents ambushed the vehicle of Wahidullah Begzad, deputy Assistant of Police Chief in Khan Abad district of Kunduz.

The militants killed his driver and transferred Begzad to an unknown location, according to the source.

Begzad was ambushed when he was heading towards central Kunduz from Takhar province.

Meanwhile, Mahfozullah Akbari, spokesman for Kunduz police chief, also confirmed the incident and said that no information is available yet about deputy police assistant.

However, investigations kicked off on finding Begzad, Akbari noted.

The Taliban insurgents did not comment on the report so far.
