Deadly Traffic Accident Leaves Scores Dead, Injured In Zabul

MEP: As a result of a deadly traffic accident near the town of Zabul and on Kabul – Kandahar highway, 39 people were killed and 17 others critically wounded, officials said.

Fauzia, a member of Zabul’s provincial council told the Middle East Press, the incident took place at around 7:00 am this morning in the region of Janda near Zabul city.

She said 32 people were burned in the accident, seven were killed and 17 others wounded included women and their children.

“The passenger bus was traveling from Kabul to Kandahar when it collided with a fuel tanker,” she added.

Those wounded in the accident have been shifted to hospitals in Zabul city.

Zabul local officials also confirmed the report saying the cause of the accident was said to the high speed.

The country’s highways have been the most dangerous and eventful routes that occasionally witness deadly traffic accidents due to bad conditions of the roads, lack of traffic signs as well as reckless driving.
