Daesh Explosion Targets Wedding In Syria’s Hasaka Killing 22

MEP: At least 22 people have been killed and scores more injured in an explosion at a Kurdish wedding in the northeastern Syrian city of Hasaka, a monitoring group said.

The blast happened when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a hall in Tall Tawil village during the wedding of a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), killing at least 22 civilians, Rami Abdel Rahman, the director of the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Monday.

Many of the wounded were in a critical condition. Among those killed were the groom.

The Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terror group claimed responsibility for the attack.

A statement was released by Amaq news agency said a suicide bomber had attacked a gathering of Kurdish YPG fighters on the edge of the city with machine guns and an explosive vest.

Meanwhile, Syrian state media SANA said at least 30 were killed and 90 injured in the blast.

The people wounded in the explosion at the Sanabil Hall were taken to the national hospital in Hasakah.

Hasaka is mainly controlled by Kurdish YPG militia, which evicted the Syrian army from the city in August.
