CEO Abdullah Meets Iran President Over Rafsanjani’s Death

MEP: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah met with Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran on Wednesday evening.

Abdullah headed a senior government delegation traveled to Tehran to attend the funeral of Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

During a meeting with Iran’s head Rouhani and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, CEO Abdullah expressed deep sympathy and sorrow for the death of Rafsanjani (one of the founders of the Islamic Revolution and major political figures in the country) on behalf of the Government and people of Afghanistan.

The condolences also referred to the deceased family.

Calling the death of Rafsanjani “an untimely demise” and “a great loss” to the people and government of Iran, Abdullah praised the functions of Mr. Rafsanjani during his presidency and after for promoting good and friendly relations with Afghanistan.

The ceremony was held at Imam Khomeini Hussainya and the Islamic Azad University, by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the participation of high-ranking government officials and other countries.

Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, a former president of Iran and chairman of the Expediency Council died on Sunday (January 8) in Tehran at the age of 82.
