Cancer Disease Kills 16,000 People in Afghanistan Every Year

According to Public Health Minister Ferozuddin Feroz, almost 20,000 people are analyzed with cancer disease in Afghanistan every year.

Speaking during a ceremony to observe the World Cancer Day Feroz insisted that public awareness is key to prevent and diagnose the disease on time in a bid to cure and provide care for the patients.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) majority of the women suffer from breast cancer where 3,100 women out of 3,800 are diagnosed with the disease.

The statistics by WHO also reveals that 800 women out of 3,800 are diagnosed with womb cancer.

First lady Rula Ghani was one of the participants of the ceremony where she insisted on steps to increase public awareness regarding the disease.

She said loads of people are travelling outside the country for diagnosis and treatment of cancer which is unacceptable for the government and changes must be brought in health care system to provide facilities inside the country.
