Bomb-making Factory Destroyed In Helmand

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) has discovered and destroyed a bomb-making factory in southern Helmand province, a statement by NDS said on Sunday.

According to the statement, the factory was jointly discovered with Afghan National Army in Wazir Abad village of Garmsir district.

The Afghan officials managed to raid and seize around 33 landmines, rounds of heavy weapons, explosive materials and other materials that were used to make bombs at the factory, the statement added.

“Terrorists were making bombs, suicide vests and anti-tank landmines in this factory to martyr or hurt our people including kids, women, elders and Afghan soldiers,” the statement states. “Fortunately, by confiscating these explosives, several attacks of the enemy and bloodshed of our people are prevented.”

Helmand province is considered one of the most restive province in the country where security forces are frequently target by anti-government militants.
