AUAF Activities Suspended After Two Lecturers Kidnapped In Kabul

AUAF in KabulMEP: The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) in Kabul announced on Tuesday its activities were temporarily suspended after the abduction of two foreign lecturers of the university.

The decision will persist as long as it does not specify the fate of professors, a statement by the office of the university said.

The statement added “the abduction of the two professors indicates that the rest of teachers are also not safe to continue their activities therefore the university is facing a lot of problems in this respect”.

Academic activities will not be resumed until the safety and reliability of the university’s faculty and staff, the statement further added.

The two American and Australian professors of the American University of Afghanistan have been abducted on Sunday night from Sanatoryam area in the 6th police district of Kabul by unidentified gunmen and their fate is not known yet.

The Interior Ministry has said the incident was studied in earnest and operations to track the kidnapped foreign teachers started.
