Atmar Leaves For Russia To Get Military Equipment

139408051328088186395074MEP: The National Security Adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar on Sunday left for Russia along with an official delegation for procurement of military equipment.

A statement by the office of the National Security Adviser said Mr. Atmar travelled to Russia on an official invitation by his Russian counterpart to discuss mutual cooperation between Kabul and Moscow.

During the four-day visit, Atmar is expected to discuss the supply of Mi-35 gunships and Mi-17 helicopters to the Afghan Air Force, the statement added.

Atmar will also discuss the arrangement of facilities by Russia for the repair of the Russian-made Air Force equipment currently being used by the Afghan Air Force, according to the statement.

The statement notes that Atmar will seek ways to arrange the facilities for the repair of the equipment in Afghanistan.

The statement further addded that he will also discuss arrangement of ammunition for the equipment being used by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces besides holding talks on expansions of ties in political and security level.

The development comes as the office of the National Security Adviser insisted on international and regional support for the Afghan security to eliminate the risk of terrorism as well drugs cultivation and trade in the country.
