An Interview With A Pakistani Doctor In A Medical Camp In Najaf-Karbala Road

MEP: This is an interview with a Pakistani doctor who sets up a medical camp for Arbaeen walk in the road of Najaf to Karbala.

Please introduce yourself and tell us why you are here in the road to Karbala?

– I’m Shehla Taswer. I come from Pakistan and I am a general practitioner and in recent years I have much concentrated on Diabetes. We are here to serve the walking Zowars to Karbala. One of my friends once participated in Arba’een’s Commemoration, when I heard her memories I felt … I felt… (Crying) impressed on my heart, so eager to come. We have a medical camp here. We give medical services to Zowars.

Tell us about your team. How many of you are serving here? And tell us about your backgrounds.

– It is nineteen of us: three doctors, one physiotherapist, and fourteen Hilal Ahmer volunteers from Karachi. An Iranian pharmacologist who lives in London accompanies us.

What do you think about the participation of women in Arba’een? Can you imagine Arba’een without women’s participation?

– No! Not at all. Arba’een’s commemoration is established first by Bibi Zeinab (PBUH), so women are pioneers to continue her way. They are here to show their sympathy with Bibi and their sincere belief in Imam Hussein (PBUH).

Do you think a better organization of Arba’een’s movement is required for sending its messages to the whole world?

– I really think this movement of multi-million people in Arba’een is exceptional in many respects. We should make it more organized and make the world know the Shi’a peaceful identity. From the hygiene and the medical services to the cultural issues all are required to be reconsidered. For instance last month we sent a cargo of medicine and medical facilities, but it hasn’t been released yet from the airport. For providing Zowars with good services still we need to collaborate.

And your last words?

– Only I aspire Imam Hussein to allow me serve Zowars in the coming years (tearful eyes, looking at the direction Imam Hussein’s Harem, still stationed in a desert clinic three kilometers away from Karbala.

Thank you so much for your participation; I know how busy you are here.
