Pakistan-Capital-PunishmentKABUL: (MEP) The government of Pakistan has reportedly signed the death sentence for 11 Taliban insurgents while it has been only a week after Afghan President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had threatened to execute Taliban insurgents and terrorists across the country.

Death sentences for 11 Taliban insurgents was issued on Wednesday in Pakistani military courts by General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Staff of the Army and the sentence will be implemented soon.

The rebels, whose sentences have been approved and issued, were involved in crimes such as kidnappings, attacks on civilians and militaries as well as attacks on schools in Pakistan.

The Pakistani army has said the trial took place behind closed doors in a military court.

Verdicts that issue by military courts, must be approved by Raheel Sharif before implementation.

Death sentences issued by military courts are part of Pakistan’s national action plan against terrorism after the deadly terrorist attack on a school in Peshawar last year.

The attack caused severe shock to the entire Pakistan and the international community.

This comes as President Ghani on Monday last week in the National Assembly announced the execution plan for the rebel groups and will put it in practical.

In connection to the report, list of those sentenced to death has been sent to President Ghani and is waiting for his approval.
