Afghan Peace Is Time-Consuming: Says UN Special Envoy For Afghanistan

UN special envoy for AfghanistanMEP: UN special envoy for Afghanistan said on Monday that the Afghan Peace is a serious requisite, but believes that this process is time consuming and requires patience.

Tadamychy Yamamoto, at a press conference in Kabul noted that miscarry in Afghan peace process does not mean that the patient be lost.

Yamamoto said the peace process is long-term efforts by the Quadrilateral group (Pakistan, Afghanistan, United States and China) and with preparations of Pakistan, shows that the Afghan government are partners to meet their demands.

“The United Nations is serious about seeking peace in Afghanistan, the source stated adding that the will of the people and Government of Afghanistan is the way to achieve peace, and we believe that peace comes through negotiation is the best option for peace”.

This comes as last week, the American and Pakistani military officials have met and discussed on how to resume peace talks in Afghanistan but Kabul has announced that it has no will to restart peace talks.

The development also comes as when Pakistan failed to fulfill its obligations regarding the results of peace negotiations and treated the opposite way, in response, Kabul also reacted and President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in Warsaw meeting clearly said that he is not optimistic towards the peace that comes through Pakistan and it discriminates between terrorists.

Now, it is worth waiting to see what consequences the United Nations efforts bring for peace in Afghanistan?
