KABUL: (Middle East Press) The Ministry of Interior said that the Afghan National Security Forces have taken back Jawand District from militants who had occupied office of the district governor and are in fully control of the district in northwestern Badghis province.

Security forces on Tuesday morning launched a vast operation against rebels in Jawand District and in the afternoon Ministry of Interior declared the district “cleared of militants”.

Ministry of Interior confirmed that security forces stepped back from parts of Jawand District during the militant attack but it says that the stepping back was tactical.

However, there is not reports on specific number of the possible casualties.
