Afghan armyMEP: At least six armed Taliban have been killed in northern Balkh and Baghlan provinces during Afghan military operations.

A statement was released by 209th Shaheen Corps saying “in past 24 hours as a result of a joint operation under the name of ‘Naweed 1’ in Surkh Kotal area of Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital of Baghlan province two armed Taliban were killed and a powerful weapon of them destroyed.”

The statement adds that as a result of clashes between security forces and Taliban in Chamtal district of Balkh province four armed Taliban were killed.

Clearing operations of ‘Naweed 1’ was launched a week ago in parts of Dand-e-Ghori and Dand-e-Shahabudeen of Baghlan province and continue. Security officials were earlier reported of entering heavy casualties to the armed Taliban and clearing of several villages.
