Kunduz-War Displaced People In Urgent Need Of Aid

displaced in KunduzMEP: The displaced people due to the severity of the recent insecurity in Kunduz province say they have abandoned all of their belongings in the area and have brought themselves to a safe place where they now in need of urgent assistance.

Nasim, a resident from Ismail Qeshlaq of Imam Sahib district along with his family sought refuge at the home of one of his relatives in the town of Imam Sahib says “we have left all of our possessions and moved to a safe area.”

He says that over the past two months the areas of Ismail Qeshlaq, Dehqan Qeshlaq, Kanbaz and Pul Begum witnessed heavy fighting between security forces and the armed Taliban and currently the rebels are present in these areas with the scene of War Theater.

Nasim says there is nothing to eat: “In our area fighting has intensified, the Taliban advanced, we fled with family, we could not bring food or rugs and blankets, we are faced a lot of problems, two of my daughters are sick but I cannot effort to take them to the hospital or get medications.”

Shams-uddin, another resident of Kunduz’s Elchin has been forced to leave his home that is in need of help.

He says one of his friends in a regional area of Kunduz city, living under trees, and have nothing to eat.

He says he is deeply concerned about the deterioration of his home and the loss of cultivated land is Elchin.

Shams-uddin added “we left our land and houses and fled, now we live in a garden, we could not bring any equipment along, our harvest may be burned, maybe our house is damaged, there is no guarantee, we are doomed.”

He says the government should immediately dispatch emergency aid to displaced families.

Meanwhile, officials in the province said the districts of Qala-e-Zal, Imam Sahib, Dasht-e Archi, Chahar Dara, and a number of areas in the center of the city over the past few months have been engaged in intense insecurity and conflicts.

Sayed Abdul Salam Hashemi, immigration chief of Kunduz province told the Middle East Press in the wake of the insecurity, three thousand families, have left their homes and fled to safer areas.

Hashemi says the displaced people have been pasted in the city of Kunduz, Imam Sahib district and the town of Sherkhana.

“Hundreds of people leave their homes and castles every day and either move to their relatives houses or stay in gardens under trees,” Hashemi added.

According to the source, Kunduz provincial government has been able to provide assistance for more than two hundred families in Qala-e-Zal and Khwaja Ghar districts of Takhar province.

Immigration chief of Kunduz says “the severity of insecurity caused disrupt in bringing aid to displaced, Afghan army has prepared assistance in Kunduz for more than four hundred families but we could not transfer the aid because of fierce battles.”

During the current year, more than 8 thousand families have been displaced in Kunduz and by the change in the situation, six thousands of them have returned back to their areas.
