North Korean Missile Can Hit U.S. Bases In Pacific: Kim Jong-un Says

38249203842MEP: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un says his country has a missile capable of striking the US in the Pacific, official media reported.

“We have the sure capability to attack in an overall and practical way the Americans in the Pacific operation theater,” said Kim on Wednesday, after claiming that the testing of two Musudan missiles had been successful.

The US and South Korea say the first test failed, but the second travelled about 400km (250 miles) and reached an altitude of 1,000km.

The test-fire was successful without any impact to the security of neighbouring countries, the North’s KCNA news agency said.

Kim hailed the tests as a “great event” which significantly boosted the North’s pre-emptive nuclear attack capabilities.

U.S. and Japanese officials confirmed that the missile rose over 600 miles and traveled about 250 miles.

The Musudan, named by outsiders after a North Korean village, is believed by outside observers to have range of up to 4,000km (2,500 miles).

That is far enough to reach the US territory and military bases in Guam, though it has never been fully flight tested.
