Turkey To Treat Riza Gul Recover Her ‘Cut Nose’

KABUL: (MEP) Riza Gul, the 22-year-old woman had lost her nose after her husband brutally sliced off her nose in a domestic violence attack in Faryab province earlier in 2015.

The doctors in the country encouraged Gul to be treated in Turkey as the Turkish medical doctors have also offered to do so, according to medical sources.

Sayed Anwar Sadat, governor of Faryab province said the ministry of interior and ministry of public health are jointly cooperating to receive her passport soon and send her to Turkey for medical treatment.

Fawzia Salimi, a hospital director in Maymana, capital of Faryab province, said Gul was brought in early Monday having lost a great deal of blood.

Gul’s husband is still on the run while her family is urging government to find him and give him the severest punishment.

Domestic violence against women is widespread in the country, where they are often denied constitutional rights designed to protect them.

Violence has also become somewhat entrenched in Afghan society after 40 years of war, with nearly non-existent mental health care and few options or outlets for a traumatized population.
