news1-2-939b1ce6f7f724ceKABUL: (MEP) Shooting and a stabbing rang out at a motorcycle Expo in the US state of Colorado on Saturday afternoon, leaving one person dead and nine others injured, authorities said.

The incident took place at the National Western Complex near the Denver Coliseum around 13:00 local time (20:00 GMT) when multiple shots were fired and at least one person was stabbed, Denver Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said.

The Denver Post quoted a witness, who didn’t want to be identified because of fear of retaliation, as saying the violence involved rival biker gangs. Video taken after the shooting showed police talking to groups of men wearing jackets with motorcycle club patches.

The victims were taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where a large number of police officers were stationed on Saturday night to “make sure the incident didn’t spread from the complex to the hospital,” The Denver police chief, Robert White said.

The medical campus was placed on temporary lockdown earlier in the evening as a precaution.

Nine injured people being treated, with three of whom in critical condition, according to Denver Health Medical Center.

“Authorities were still trying to determine which motorcycle gang or gangs were involved,” Lopez said.

He added, investigators think two or more people exchanged gunfire, but the cause of the shooting is still being investigated.

The gun fight broke out during the first day of the annual Colorado Motorcycle Expo, when hundreds of motorcycles were parked near the complex.
