Continuation of the war and violence in parts of the province has caused that vaccinated volunteers cannot go in that sectors and a large number of children are not able to take advantage of vaccination in the province, Abdul Rahman Ulfat responsible for massive relief programs in Baghlan Public Health Department said.

Ulfat added that villages in Baghlan provincial capital of Pul-e Khumri and Central Baghlan district are places where the armed Taliban are active and volunteers vaccinated out of fear for their lives cannot step in, in these villages for vaccination of children under the age of five years.

According to Ulfat, 294 thousand children under the age of five years have received Anti Polio drops in the second round of spring vaccination campaign in the province.

Baghlan Public Health Department officials warn that the lack of implementation of health programs in rural and provincial areas is worrisome that can also put the lives of children at jeopardize.
