44 Armed Taliban Killed, Wounded In Badakhshan Clashes

Afghan security forces in BadakhshanMEP: At least 44 armed Taliban were killed and wounded over the past two days in different areas of northern Badakhshan province, local officials said on Saturday.

Badakhshan governor’s spokesman, Naweed Frotan says heavy clashes have erupted between Taliban, security forces and popular uprisings in Raghistan, Derayem and Khash districts of the province in which 24 armed Taliban were killed and 20 wounded.

Frotan added that Abdul Hamid also famous for Nisar, the self-proclaimed of Taliban district chief in Raghistan district was among the dead.

According to Frotan, the armed Taliban’s bodies were remained with their weapons on the ground.

The popular uprisings join the security forces to eliminate Taliban safe nests in the province, Frotan further added.

The anti-government Taliban did not comment on the report so far.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the districts of Warduj and Yumgan are under Taliban control.
