10 Security Forces Released From Taliban Jail In Helmand

MEP: Afghan security commandos in operation on armed Taliban positions in Nahrsaraj district of Helmand province, 10 security soldiers released from the group’s jail.

A statement by Helmand press office said on Monday the operation was launched last night in Yakhchal area.

The operations under the name of “Qahre Maiwand” was launched, an armed Taliban prison was destroyed and 10 security soldiers along with three civilians were released.

During the operation some weapons and ammunition were also seized by security forces.

Although it’s not specified in the statement that the soldiers released from prison when and how were jailed, but during war in Helmand, a number of security troops had been captured by the armed Taliban.

The military operation of Qahre Maiwand had been conducted five days before in order to clear areas of Helmand from Taliban.
