Baghlan – Kunduz Highway Blocked Due To Heavy Clashes

MEP: Due to the intensity of the conflict in Hussain Khel area on the outskirts of Pul-e Khumri city, Baghlan – Kunduz highway has been blocked.

The armed Taliban have reached close to the road and are heavily engaged in fighting with security forces, Amir Gul Hussain Khel, Baghlan police chief security officer, in an interview with the Middle East Press, confirmed the report.

Hussain Khel area is located about 8 km in the city of Pul-e-Khumri – Central Baghlan district of Baghlan and the University of Baghlan also located in this area.

It is said a local police soldiers was killed and two others wounded during the clashes.

Baghlan security officials say that last night as a result of a mortar shell landed in a village on the outskirts of Kohna city of Central Baghlan district, two civilians were killed and several have been wounded, including women and children.
