TorkhamMEP: Torkham border has reopened after a week of being closed, to the public and the vehicles of commercial property.

Attaullah Khogyani, a spokesman for Nangarhar governor told the Middle East News Agency that the gates of Torkham was reopened early Saturday to traffic.

He said the development came after bilateral talks between Afghan and Pakistani officials.

The border has been blocked after a week of clashes between the two countries’ forces by the Pakistani forces.

The situation is currently normal and there’s no security threats and Torkham border forces are providing security, Khogyani noted.

This comes as a number of Afghan and Pakistani forces were killed and wounded during the border clashes last week.

The conflict started after the Pakistani border troops advanced to create military facilities in Afghan territory.
