Afghanistan Signs 3 Agreements With Kazakhstan

KABUL: (Middle East Press) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani signed two agreements with his Kazakh counterpart during a two-day visit to Kazakhstan addressing issues relating to economic and political ties as well as regional cooperation.

Ghani in KazakhstanKABUL: (Middle East Press) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani signed three agreements with his Kazakh counterpart during a two-day visit to Astana, Kazakhstan addressing issues relating to economic and political ties as well as regional cooperation.

The three agreements were signed on governance, fight on corruption, diplomacy as well as wheat purchase from Kazakhstan.

Four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with were also signed between the two sides on Friday, a statement issued by ARG (Presidential Palace).

One of MoU was signed between Afghanistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation & Livestock and Kazakhstan’s National Company, “Food Contract Corporation”.

Second was between Afghanistan’s National Standards Authority & Committee of Technical Regulation and Metrology of Republic of Kazakhstan.

The third one was between Afghanistan’s Independent Administrative Reform & Civil Service Commission and Kazakhstan’s Agency for Civil.

Fourth one was between Afghanistan’s Institute of Diplomacy and Kazakhstan’s Academy of Public Administration.

President Ghani landed in Kazakhstan on Thursday night and received red-carpet welcome by Kazakh officials.

After landing in Astana, Ghani had an interview with Kazakh TV where he spoke out about importance of Afghanistan-Kazakhstan relations.

“Our main goal is to improve trade ties with Kazakhstan and sign agreements with the Kazakh governments,” Ghani said.

“Kazakhstan is one of the biggest wheat producers in the region and we need imported wheat in next five years. Also, Kazakhstan is a big steel producer and we need this product for infrastructure in Afghanistan,” he stated.
