Taliban Attacks on Police Check Posts in Zabul

KABUL: (Middle East Press) The Taliban group have reportedly attacked on police check posts in Shahjoi district of Zabul province leaving 8 Taliban militants killed including four senior leaders following the clashes Wednesday evening.

Provincial police Chief Mirwais Noorzai confirmed that the Taliban group launched coordinated attacks on 4 check posts of the Afghan security forces.

The Taliban leaders who were killed, are identified as Mullah Zahid, Qari Asif, Mullah Naqib and commander Aibak.

Gun battle between the insurgents and Afghan soldiers lasted for more than 2 hours, said Noorzai.

Zabul is among the relatively instable provinces in southern Afghanistan where the insurgents mostly launch insurgency activities and target police.
