Russia Is Associated With Taliban Insurgents In Afghanistan: Says Dedov

Russian ambassador in PakistanMEP: Russian Ambassador in Pakistan confirmed that contacts and communications between Moscow and Taliban insurgents are persist in Afghanistan and the purpose of these contacts, is contributing to peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.

Alexey Dedov, Russian ambassador in Islamabad during a seminar entitled ‘Russia’s position on Afghanistan and Syria’ held in Pakistan’s Peshawar said, “Russia is in contact with Afghan Taliban in order to bring peace in Afghanistan.”

Meanwhile, Dedov denied reports exposed that Russian President Vladmir Putin met with Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansoor.

Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper reported that the Russian ambassador said his country is deeply concerned about the presence of Islamic State (IS or Daesh) terrorists in Afghanistan.

Dedov said the situation in Afghanistan is complex and it is more like a playground for foreign forces and their actions in cracking down on the terrorists in Afghanistan have not had any positive impact.

Dedov also rejected claims that Russia is indifferent towards the situation in Afghanistan, stating several examples of Russia’s actions to help Afghanistan said, “Such claims are not true.”

Russia has done much assistance to the Afghan government and Afghan troops, ‘provide needed light weapons and training national police force, is part of the service.

The report comes as earlier Zamir Kabulov, the Russian special representative for Afghanistan had announced links between Taliban insurgents and Moscow.
