Pakistan Warns Taliban To End Violence
KABUL: (MEP) Pakistan has reportedly warned Taliban groups with the beginning of its spring offensive that if they do not attend the peace process talks, will have to pay a heavy price.
A Pakistani official quoted in a local media report said the authorities in Pakistan have also called on the Taliban leadership to call off their ‘spring offensive’.
The Taliban insurgents last week announced its spring offensive under the name of “Omari” and with the passage of time, the conflict intensified in a number of provinces.
The Pakistani official said the offensive would stray the Quadrilateral Cooperation Group (QCG) roadmap peace.
The Pakistani official speaking on condition of anonymity said to Express Tribune “the Taliban leadership has been given a clear message through ‘intermediaries’ that they would have to pay a ‘heavy price’ if they refused to go back to the negotiating table.”
Due to the holding of four rounds of the negotiation peace talks and various regional and international efforts, Taliban insurgents did not decide to attend the talks.
