NDS Officers Kill Top Al-Qaeda Commander In Ghazni

MEP: A key al-Qaeda commander has been killed in a special operation carried out by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) officers in central Ghazni province, a statement by their office said on Sunday.

Saifullah Akhtar had gathered 30,000 fighters in Afghanistan in order to fight in Central Asia, the statement added.

According to the statement, the operation was launched in Nawa district on January 9 where Saifullah was gunned down along with one of his fighters.

Saifullah Akhtar was arrested twice in Pakistan but by had been released by certain circles in the country and was sent to fight in Afghanistan.

He was also leading the Pakistani armed terrorists against the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
