00690BCA-FD75-4DF4-836F-59F6154066C8_mw1024_s_nMEP: former top U.S diplomat Zalmay Khalilzad attending the U.S House of Foreign Affairs Committee claimed that Pakistan seeks to destroy Afghanistan and the country is one of the causes of the war in Afghanistan.

Khalilzad on Tuesday issued a certificate to Congress and of certified defended himself.

Matt salmon, a member of US Congress stated that by spending all this money and of 15 years times, why the Pakistani intelligence agencies still have links with suspected terrorists and success in ensuring stability in the region is “low”.

Khalilzad said that “Pakistani policy is the principal cause of the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan. More broadly, Pakistan’s use of extremist and terrorist proxies — including to threaten India — is a significant contributor to the global menace of Islamic extremism.

According to Khalilzad, poor governance by the Afghan government is a factor in Kabul’s inability to defeat the insurgents. But the Taliban’s resilience can be attributed above all to the strategic decision of the Pakistani military and intelligence services to provide sanctuary and support to these groups.

“If the US wants to beat terrorism and extremism around the world, it must deal with its roots in Pakistan (a country which it said appeared to be America’s friend while in fact is supporter of terrorists) Khalilzad added.

He said “the Pakistani government is currently funding terrorism and that if the Pakistani military and its intelligence supported the Haqqani network, there is no doubt”.

Meanwhile, Khalilizad said Pakistan supports the Taliban since 2005, the Taliban and Haqqani network have regrouped in Pakistan and waged a devastating insurgency against U.S and Afghan forces”.

This comes as the Pakistani government, particularly its intelligence has denied support for terrorist groups, referring to Pakistani military operations in the tribal areas and to crack down on terror, has considered the country as “horror and terror victims”.
