Interior Minister Noor-ul-haq Olumi Resigned

Middle East Press News AgencyKABUL: (MEP) The minister of Interior, Noor-ul-haq Olumi has offered resignation to his position amid growing criticism over the worsening security situation over recent months in the country, local sources said Saturday.

Olumi made his resignation to President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday, according to government diplomats who wished anonymity.

However, the resignation offer, which the sources said had not yet been accepted.

Olumi’s resignation came after his assignment of deputy interior minister was rejected by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah.

The spokesman for the Interior Ministry Sediq Sediqi, however, dismissed the reports on Olumi’s resignation saying the report is overall fabricated.
