Insurgents Attack Uruzgan Provincial Ulema Council Chief

uruzgan-1432366461KABUL: (Middle East Press) A number of insurgents have reportedly attacked on Provincial Ulema Council Chief, Mawlawi Lal Mohammad in the central Uruzgan province on Saturday, an official said Sunday.

Dost Mohammad Nayab, spokesman for the governor of Uruzgan province said, at least three people including Mawlawi Lal Mohammad were killed and one policeman was injured in the attack.

Nayab added that the incident took place after Mawlawi Lal Mohammad and the police security chief of the province were on the way from Uruzgan-Kandahar highway to southern Kandahar province, when came under insurgents attack.

According to Nayab, the insurgents attacked the convoy of officials in which Mawlawi Lal Mohammad and two other tribal elders were killed in.

No group has so far claimed responsibility behind the attack.
