Government, International Community Are Perpetrators Of Corruption: Says President Ghani

13131570_987383518004557_6397504739231246193_oMEP: President Ashraf Ghani believes that the international community is involved in corruption since it did not well-supervise its projects and has delivered without examining.

The European League initiative conference was launched today in the presence of President Ghani at the Presidential Palace (ARG).

France Michel Milbeen, special representative of Europe union for Afghanistan during the conference said that the meeting has been held aimed at finding a serious strategy to combat corruption in Afghanistan.

He emphasized on serious fight against corruption in Afghanistan and noted “the warlords and the Taliban insurgents are such factors who do not want Afghanistan as a strong government.”

Milbeen has once recounted the European Union’s commitment, the international community and the Afghan government to fight corruption. However he did not call it as satisfactory but called on serious and decisive fight against corruption as scientific steps of requirement in the direction.

Meanwhile, President Ghani stressed on the elimination of corruption and said the government and international community are committed in this way as it involves serious effort.

He also pointed out on some problems in the fight against corruption and said during the past few years there have been shortcomings including in the presence of qualified people in government tasks in this regard, the regulations governing relations and ways to boost corruption in government departments.

The president has insisted on reversing this trend and said that “in this way we must change the culture, because the system will not be successful.”

Mr Ghani cited corruption in government departments and noted that corruption in the prosecutor’s office and the Ministry of Interior has led to hundreds of acres of land to be expropriated by powerful or influential people.

The confiscation of land in the country is about 300 thousand hectares that due to the influence of mafia networks at the Ministry of Interior, General Prosecutor’s Office and the courts of the country had been usurped by powerful individuals, according to Ghani’s remarks.

According to the President, the problem was due to the weakness of the judiciary, which is expected to be solved.

At the same time, the President has pointed to corruption in the Ministry of Education and said that the budget has received for a number of schools, but were not made or the international supervision of construction was poor in constructing schools and the donor community without supervision, has delivered the construction materials that the level of corruption in its building was high.

While he urged donors to fight corruption to have serious monitoring of the implementation of the money and build schools, emphasized that graft and corruption should be eliminated from the Ministry of Education so the children to be safe.

Ghani also said that the contracts to be written in national languages from now on.
