Crane Collapse Kills 18 In China
KABUL: (MEP) At least 18 people have been killed and many others hospitalized after a crane collapse at a construction site amid a fierce windstorm in China’s Guangdong province.
The 80-ton crane fell directly on to two-storey temporary buildings on Wednesday morning. Of those in hospital, four were listed in serious but stable condition, state media said.
Luo Bin said 139 construction workers had been inside the building at the time of the collapse.
An investigation had been opened into the accident and 20 million yuan ($3 million) made available by the companies concerned for the recovery and cleanup.
