KABUL: (Middle East Press) Comrades shot dead five of its police members in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan Monday morning, local officials said.

The officials added, the incident occurred in a security check post in Kidu area of Khakriz district.

The Taliban groups claimed responsibility for the incident and said the attack was carried out by their fighters who had infiltrated among the security forces.

Kandahar is one of the unstable provinces in southern Afghanistan where the armed militant groups are actively operating and frequently carry out insurgency activities.
