Clashes Renewed In Nagorno-Karabakh Despite Unilateral Truce

photo_verybig_173844KABUL: (MEP) Clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan have renewed again despite the announcement of a unilateral ceasefire by Baku on the frontline in Fuzuli, Terter and Aghdam districts in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijan the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan said the fighting currently continues with reports of casualties among the two sides.

Reports suggest that Armenian forces had launched a counter attack on a strategic area located close to the village of Talish in the Martakert region.

Regional authorities in Martakert also announced that Azerbaijani shelling has been going on continuously for the past 24 hours.

Earlier Azerbaijan unilaterally suspended the counter-attacks and response measures in the territories occupied by Armenia, in accordance with request of international structures.

The violence in Nagorno-Karabakh, a breakaway Azeri region with a predominantly Armenian population that fought an independence war in the 1990s, escalated on Friday night.

Two Nagorno-Karabakh boys, who were injured after shells landed near a school in a recent escalation in the region which is disputed by Armenia and Azerbaijan, are in a stable condition after surgery. RT visited them at a hospital in Stepanakert.

Six Armenian tanks, 15 gun mounts and reinforced engineering structures have been destroyed and more than 100 servicemen of the Armenian armed forces were wounded and killed during the fights, the Azerbaijani ministry said.
