Car Accident Leaves 25 Dead, Injured In Herat

MEP: At least 15 people were killed and ten others wounded as a result of a traffic accident in Shindand district of Herat province, according to eyewitnesses.

But local officials meanwhile say that 18 people were killed and injured in the crash.

Witnesses told the Middle East Press, the crash took place Tuesday morning (31 January) in the Azizabad area when a van collided with a truck.

According to the source, 15 people, including women and children died and 10 others were injured.

Jilani Farhad, spokesman for the governor of Herat confirmed the traffic accident and stated that five people have been killed and 13 others wounded, including women and children.

He added that the condition of five injured in the incident, including one woman, are spoiled.

Traffic accidents in the country’s highways, especially in Herat – Kabul highway is not unprecedented, lack of traffic signs and disregard for the safety of drivers, passengers, thought to be a major cause of traffic accidents in the country.
