Afghan Intelligence Arrests Group Of Terrorist In Helmand
MEP: As a result of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) operation, a group of three militants was arrested in southern Helmand province.
The terrorists tied to the Taliban insurgents had planned to carry out suicide attacks and explosions in Helmand, a statement by National Directorate of Security (NDS) said Thursday.
The statement adds that the militants were assigned to kill local government officials and tribal elders as well as religious clerics in Nad Ali district.
The terrorists were immediately identified by the intelligence operatives and arrested along with a pistol a silencer and 10 hand grenades, NDS said.
Various attacks and attempts were thwarted by arresting the terror group, the statement by NDS noted.
The anti-government armed militants are yet to comment on the report.
