Kunduz Clashes Leave 160 Taliban Killed, 171 Civilians Wounded

Kunduz clashesKABUL: (Middle East Press) NATO led-coalition have reportedly launched land and air operations in northern Kunduz province in which at least 160 Taliban militants have been killed and up to 171 civilians were wounded including 46 children, local officials said Wednesday.

The insurgents were targeted while gathered in various parts of Kunduz city, officials added.

Meanwhile, The Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières’ (MSF) said Tuesday at least 171 people including 46 children were transferred in their hospital in Kunduz as the exact number of civilian casualties remains unascertained amid ongoing fierce clashes.

“The hospital is inundated with patients,” said Guilhem Molinie, MSF’s country representative in Afghanistan. “We have quickly increased the number of beds from 92 to 110 to cope with the unprecedented level of admissions, but people keep arriving. We have 130 patients spread throughout the wards, in the corridors and even in offices. With the hospital reaching its limit and fighting continuing, we are worried about being able to cope with any new influx of wounded.”
