Gunmen Abduct 12 Passengers in Ghazni

imagesKABUL: (Middle East Press) At least 12 passengers have been abducted by gunmen in central Ghazni province on Tuesday, officials said Wednesday.

The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Qara-Bagh district at around 10:00 am after insurgents stopped the vehicles of the passengers and abducted 12 of them, a member of Provincial Council of Ghazni, Hassan Reza Yousufi said.

Yousufi added that the passengers were travelling from the capital of the province to Jaghori district when came under attack of the insurgents.

Meanwhile, Shafiq Nang, spokesman for the governor of Ghazni province said that the insurgents initially kidnapped 14 people but two of them were later released.

According to Nang, the two individuals were women.

He said efforts have been made to secure the release of the hostages.

This comes a day after four engineers who were kidnapped from Jaghato district of Ghazni province were found dead.
