One of the leading Muslim speakers and prominent Indian scholars has been charged with money laundering by country’s judicial authorities.
According to the international reports of Middle East Press, Zakir Naik, who has a great reputation among the youth of various countries, especially India, is accused of receiving $ 28 million illegally.
The BBC reports that Mr. Naik, who lives outside of India, has also been accused of spreading hate speech and inciting terrorism.
Accordingly, he has used unspecified and dubious funds for his activities in India and the purchase of property for his lectures.
Mr. Naik’s “inflammatory speeches and lectures have inspired and incited a number of Muslim youths in India to commit unlawful activities and terrorist acts”, India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) told the court.
Mr Naik, 53, promotes a radical form of Islam on the channel Peace TV, which is headed by himself.
This TV network is based in Dubai and is not allowed in India; Peace Network has around 200 million viewers worldwide.
