US Forces Conduct Airstrikes on Taliban in Helmand

KABUL (MEP) – US Air Force targeted a group of Taliban members in Nahr-e-Saraj district of Helmand province as the first attack since the end of the “reduction in violence” week.

US Air Force targeted the Taliban fighters today afternoon, Wednesday, March 04, after the group managed to carry out an attack on Afghan security forces’ outpost.

US For Afghanistan Spokesman Col Sonny Leggett say in a post on Twitter that attack was US’ 1st strike against the Taliban in 11 days.

“The US conducted an airstrike on March 4 against Taliban fighters in Nahr-e Saraj, Helmand, who were actively attacking an ANDSF checkpoint,” Leggett stated.

Leggett said that the Taliban must work to reduce the violence because the United States would never leave its partners and will always stand with partners.

Earlier, Taliban had announced that the group will continue raids on Afghan forces after the end of reduction in violence week.

Meanwhile, Intra-Afghan talks are also set to begin in near future.
