Wahid Siddiqi, spokesman for the governor of Parwan told the Middle East News Agency the incident took place at around 10am in Qala-e-Naser area of Bagram district after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the convoy.
The Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the attack saying a large number of troops are killed and wounded.
According to Siddiqi, the vehicles of the Afghan security forces were also among the US troops convoy and a panzer of the foreign troops has completely damaged in the blast.
The exact casualties are yet to be determined.
