Unknown Gunmen Shot Dead 3 Civilians in Kundoz

KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least three people were shot dead by unknown gunmen in northern Kundoz province of Khan Abad District of on Sunday, officials said.

The incident took place after the victims vehicle was stopped in Jangal Bagh area by unknown gunmen while travelling from Kundoz city to Khan Abad District Sunday evening, said Abdul Wadood Wahidi, spokesman of Kunduz governor.

Wahidi added that gunmen opened fire on three of them and injured a 10-year-old child during the attack.

According to Wahidi, two of the three killed in the attack were associates of Amanullah, commander of a local illegal armed group, and the attack is more likely carried out by another group opposing him.

But he added that the case is under further investigation.

Another older-age man and three women were also traveling in the vehicle but gunmen have not harmed them.

No group has so far claimed responsibility behind the shooting, however reports indicate that there are several illegal armed groups in Kundoz province who occasionally turn weapons on each other.
