Unknown Fate Of Afghan Citizens In Russia’s Prisons

Citizens in Russia's prisonsKABUL: (MEP) A number of citizens were attempting to cross from Russia to Europe, have been arrested by the country’s security forces and are in prison.

Idris, one of the young people who attended the gathering of this group of citizens in contact with the Middle East News Agency said “now we are in foster care and our parents are in prison.”

According to him, about 10 individual of boys and girls under the age of 18 years are transferred to an orphanage by security forces and more than 20 adults were also taken into custody.

Idris said that they were arrested about three months ago and the Russian government has not addressed their cases yet.

The boy said that they are allowed once every 15 days to communicate with their parents via telephone but cannot see them in person.

The health condition of his parents is not stable, he added.

According to Idris, their cases were expected to be examined about a month before, but this has not been done and the Russian officials are also not accountable in this regard.

“My father was a taxi driver in Parwan province who had been beaten several times by armed people and therefore we decided to leave the country” Idris noted.

He urged the Afghan government to address the situation as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Shakib Mustaghni, Foreign Ministry spokesman expressed unawareness of this issue, said the issue will be prosecuted.

Mustaghni says if their problems proved to be criminally, will be arraigned in accordance with the law of Russia and yet they will follow up the issue diplomatically.

On the other hand, the Russian embassy in Kabul refused to reply in this regard despite a lot of efforts.

This comes as a large number of citizens of the country in recent years have left Afghanistan to Europe and a large number of them are either drowned at sea or are currently living in refugee camps.
