U.S. Intends To Drawdown About 4,000 Troops From Afghanistan

KABUL (MEP) – US media have reported that Trump administration is preparing to announce reduction of US troops from Afghanistan.

According to this reduction plane, 4,000 troops will be drawdown from Afghanistan.

The withdrawal will leave between 8,000 and 9,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan, the US officials said.

“The smaller US military presence will be largely focused on counterterrorism operations against groups like al Qaeda and ISIS-K,” CNN reported quoting US defense officials.

“We’re going down to 8,600 and then we make a determination from there as to what happens,” Trump told Fox News Radio in August. “We’re bringing it down.”

The U.S. has between 12,000 and 13,000 troops in Afghanistan now.

US troops withdraw from Afghanistan comes when the talks with US and Taliban representatives in Qatar have again been suspended.
