Two Senior Taliban Leaders Arrested In Helmand

Taliban leaders arrested in HelmandMEP: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) officers in Garmsir district of Helmand province, arrested two senior armed Taliban commanders.

Sharaf ul-Din son of Abdul Rezaq and Shaista are of the two prominent Taliban commanders who were arrested from the village of Diwalak, a statement by NDS said Thursday.

The statement added that Sharaf ul-Din was operating under the supervision of Mawlavi Haqyar group, was also involved in a major attack on a ALP check post that left at least 30 policemen dead.

According to the statement, one of the people of Shaista was also arrested and one was killed during clashes with security forces.

The intelligence operatives meanwhile confiscated a heavy machine, 2 Ak-47 rifles, and a vehicle from the militants.

The report comes as yesterday a skillful Daesh mine maker was arrested in eastern Nangarhar province.
