Two Prominent Taliban Rebels Detained In Laghman
MEP: National Security Special Forces, have arrested two prominent members of the armed Taliban in Mehtar Lam, the provincial city of Laghman province.
A statement by NDS said on Tuesday that Rafihullah and Babur Zai, the two arrested militants, planned to carry out terrorist attacks and sabotage acts as well as killing some of the Laghman elders, were detained before proceeding.
The statement adds the two men were sent by “Mullah Nomyalai” one of the Taliban commanders to Mehtar Lam.
NDS noted that the detainees are also involved in the murder of a shopkeeper in the city.
The report comes as a commander of 30,000 armed Taliban had been arrested in Logar province last week while trying to enter Afghanistan from Pakistan.
