Two Policemen Killed, Several Wounded In Helmand IED Blast

2000px-Helmand_in_Afghanistan.svgKABUL: (MEP) At least four people were killed and 11 others injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion in southern Helmand province, local officials say.

The incident took place late on Sunday near a security check post in Lashkargah city, provincial governor spokesman Omar Zwak said, adding that the target of the blast was police personnel.

According to Zwak, two policemen were among the dead.

However, officials in Lashkargah emergency hospital, said at least four dead bodies have been taken to the hospital from the incident site.

The injured were immediately transferred to hospital where some of being in critical condition, the hospital officials cited by local reports.

No group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
