Turkey’s Wedding Blast Toll Rises To 51 As Bomber Identified As 12-14YO Child

turkey-bomb-attackMEP: The death toll from a deadly suicide bombing at a wedding party in the south east of Turkey has risen to 51 people as the bomber was identified as a 12 to 14-year-old child, according to the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Mr Erdogan said the Takfiri Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group was behind the attack, which targeted a Kurdish wedding party. Gaziantep, near the Syrian border.

Authorities found a suicide vest at the scene, although it is unclear whether the boy bomber blew himself up or it was detonated remotely, the bomber’s age apparently giving authorities pause at assigning him blame.

The bomb also wounded 69 people, Mr Erdogan added, 17 of them seriously.

The bride and groom survived the attack, however the groom did suffer injuries, a local official said, as cited by Reuters.

Mahmut Togrul, a member of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) told Reuters that it was a Kurdish wedding.
